A meeting of the Hongkong Legislative Council was held yesterday in the Council Chamber,

MINUTES.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and confirmed,

The COLONIAL SECRETARY, by direction of i
H. E. the Governor, laid on the table Financial Minute No. 60, and moved that it be referred to the Finance Committee.
The COLONIAL TREASUREE seoonded, and the motion was agreed to.

The COLONIAL SECRETART, by direction of H. E. the Governor, laid on the table the report of the Finance Committee No. 17 and moved its adoption. In connection with the report be also laid on the table a certificate certifying that the Appropriation Ordinance of 1909 was con- sidered clause by clause and approved by the Finance Committee, and the Committee recom- mended that the Bill might be dealt with by the Council as a Bill reported on by a Committee of! the whole Connoil.
The COLONIAL TREASURER seconded, and the motion was agreed to.
THE ESTIMATES.

The COLONIAL SECRETARY-Ia view of the certificate I have just laid on the table, and no member objsoting, I beg to move the third reading of the Bill entitled an Ordinance to apply a Sum not exceeding five million five hundred and seventy thousand four hundred and twenty-seven dollars to the public service of the year 1909.
The COLONIAL TREASURER seconded, and the Bill was read a third time, and passed.
REGULATION OF THEATRES ORDINANOR. The ATTORNEY-GENERAL moved the third reading of the Bill entitled an Ürdinance for regulating theatres and other places of public resort.
The COLONIAL SEC IETARY seconded, and the Bill was read a third time, and passed.

A mesting of the Finance Committee was then held, the COLONIAL SECRETARY presiding, The following vote was passed :-

The Governor recommended the Council to rote a sum of Four hundred and eighty-nine Dollars and forty-seven Cents (8489.47) in aid of the vote, Judicial and Legal Departments, D.-Land Registry Office, Personal Emolu ments, for the following items:-
New Territori 8. Allowance to Passed Cadet acting as Assistant Land Officer, (frem 3rd April to 1st July, 1908), Exchange Compensation,
